Nothing brings you closer to the heart of the countryside than staying on a farm. Tune into the daily rhythm of our farm, beginning with the sunrise over the Sangre de Cristo mountain range, followed by a cup of piñon coffee and a breakfast with our fresh ranch eggs.
Each day is yours to explore. Relax with a book in a hammock under the ramada, say hello to our farm animals, or take a quiet walk through the valley, breathing in the sights of our beautiful surroundings.
With a strong emphasis on the full cycle of sustainability, our farm is in complete balance with nature and a model of how sustainable living is possible. Our Goji’s, fruit and vegetables are pesticide free, organically cultivated, and grown with love. Our water comes from the valley acequia and deep wells fed by mountain aquifers — the life of the land. During your visit, we invite you to wander, explore, taste, harvest, and share in the fruits of our labor. Welcome, and please make yourself at home!
The land and its history
Taos Goji Retreat & Stay is nestled at the foot of the Sangre De Cristo Mountains in San Cristobal, New Mexico. Situated on 40 acres of open fields, goji, flower and vegetable gardens, this is a beautiful and ideal setting for weddings, yoga retreats, workshops, family gatherings, or just a weekend getaway.
With active farm life, but still quiet and serene, this is the perfect spot to unwind and reflect. With an abundance of native plants and wildlife, bird watchers have counted more than one hundred species in and about our groves and ponds. We produce our own food in the summer, and our deep wells provide us with crystal-clear water that is the life of the land.
Our farm is located close to Taos, the Taos Ski Valley, and Red River, and is surrounded by the immense beauty of Carson National Forest. The valley’s inhabitants date back hundreds, if not thousands, of years, and archeological sites abound. The San Cristobal creek runs through the valley’s middle from the lofty peak of Gold Hill, and the Rio Grande wild land corridor is just to the west. In winter, cold and snow-covered; in summer, verdant and green, where everything grows.
It’s notable that during the last one hundred years in San Cristobal, and in particular at the Taos Goji Farm, numerous literati passed through our place. Some stayed overnight, others for long periods, while locals stopped off for mail, groceries, or kerosene at our historic Trading Post. We’ve taken the liberty of naming our cabins after some of these visitors — Aldous Huxley lived and wrote on this very property, and in fact built the outhouse which still stands. Our cabins represent the original craftsmanship of early settlers: constructed of logs and adobe, they appear unchanged for the last one hundred years.
